Rules

These are the current rules of Sharune mud. They are subject to change at any time.

1) Multi-Playing is NOT allowed.

There are no warnings if you get caught multi-playing and the penalties for doing so are very harsh, from deletion to loosing half your levels. The MUD server has several advanced features tracking down multi-players and we use them every day to enforce the rule. The only time you are allowed multiple characters (this includes link-dead characters) on is if they are both in the same inn/locker room, to exchange non-binding items. This means you can _not_ use a character to run and get a key or other item from a zone then give it to another of your characters.

If you are concerned that you have family or friends on the same connection it would be useful to advise immortals before hand. You may not login another character to take revenge for another of your characters. If someone has killed one of your characters you must wait 2 hours until you can attack him with another of your characters than the one he attacked.

2) Robot characters are NOT allowed.

You may not have your character played by triggers made by clients while eating dinner or walking the dog. We will delete robot characters on the spot without any warnings. This includes rescue triggers, assisting triggers, and generally any triggers that mean you do not have to interact at all while battling and so forth.

3) Bug abuse is NOT tolerated.

If you find a bug with the game, you MUST report it immediately to an immortal, either with petition or the bug command and on the forum in the appropriate section so we have a permanent record. Finding bugs can be rewarded with a range of rewards when they are recorded by an immortal on the BugTrack system. The rewards range from in-game money to experience.

Bugs that are identified, but not yet dealt with are _not_ permitted to be abused. Anyone caught abusing bugs that are known - such as gaining money, training skills or gaining extra experience may be punished.

Anyone abusing a bug will be dealt with harshly. Abuse of bugs can result in having your experience reset to 0 for the current level or a percentage of experience lost, and/or cage or worse depending on the severity of the abuse.

(Hephos: If I find people abusing bugs, I will just delete them without warning!)

4) Players should settle their own disputes.

Immortals do not wish to interfere with the game play in any way. Players should try to solve their problems among themselves and talking to an immortal should be a last resort.

5) Sexual or racial harassments are not tolerated.

If you feel someone is harassing you report it to the immortals with the petition channel. You will then be watched and if the harassments continues, the person doing it will be dealt with.

6) Racewar Switching.

You may not play a character of the opposite racewar side within 1 hour from being involved in a PVP fight. There is code making it impossible to log on a character from the opposite racewar side as the one you just played within 1 hour using same IP address. It is STILL not allowed to use another IP to log in from the opposite side of the racewar. Anyone doing so will be dealt with harshly and it could mean deletion of both characters involved.

7) OOC Chat on Regular Channels

You may not use the in-game communications channels for OOC (out-of-character). Using the in-game communication channels for talking about the RL, movies, television or whatever is strictly prohibited. You may only use the OOC chat channel for this kind of talk. Breaking this rule may result in getting a mute (unable to use _any_ communication channels except ooc). To read more about the different channels and which ones you can use for ooc chat, read HELP COMMUNICATION. If you find someone that is NOT using RP on the in-game channels you can report this to the staff with the petition command and we will watch those persons for any further abuse. We will give penalties to anyone abusing the in-game communication channels. The penalties will range from experience loss to both demotions and deletions.

8) Other Channel Abuse (Global)

You may not use "bad" language over the global or IC (in character)channels. Swearing and using dirty words over global channels is not allowed and anyone using them will be muted. Swearing over the IC channels must be in a role playing fashion. (Words like "fuck" etc do not exist in the Envarian or Draclanish languages.)

9) Advertising.

You may not advertise for other muds on any channels. This is not good ethics and anyone caught doing so will be punished severely with silencing and possible deletion.

10) Respect Thy Creators!

When having conversation with the Immortals through any channel you must show respect. Do NOT swear or talk in a bad language. The Immortals have full authority to do whatever they want with you. If they get uncomfortable with you, in any way, you may very well get demoted/deleted, silenced or banned. NEVER insult a God/Immortal, it will get you deleted.

11) Language Barriers

Never use any other language than English over public channels. You may use whatever language with your friends in tell or any personal channel. If you use say/gsay or any public IC/OOC channel where someone can hear you that is not proficient in that language, use English only.

12) RP-toggle.

When you have (RP) toggled on you MUST try your very best to keep role playing your character. You may NOT talk about anything concerning real life over public channels. Anyone caught abusing this rule will immediately be set to 0 exp for their current level or even negative exp. Continual abuse will result in demotion of levels or even deletion. Penalties like banning the use of the toggle and mute of channels may also be delivered to abusers. You may not talk about stat "numbers" or in-game mechanics that has nothing to do with role playing.

13) Character Transfer/Sharing

You may NOT transfer, trade, share or sell your characters with anyone. If we find out that the original creator of the character is not playing it and that it is played by someone else, we will delete or demote it heavily.

14) Transferring Items Between Racewar

You may not in any way, shape, or form transfer equipment, or items, between racewar sides. This should be protected mostly by the new "Soulbind" system, however it is still in your ability to do so by:

  • Allowing another from opposite racewar to loot corpses that you have slain.
  • "Grouping" with Other racewar side. (Helping another person from other racewar side zone though you can not technically group)

Anyone caught performing these actions or any other actions that are deemed inappropriate equipment transfers will be dealt with harshly by the Immortal Staff.

15) Camping & Spawn-killing

When partaking in PvP it is not permitted to 'camp' at a spawn location - such as an Inn to keep killing players that may respawn there on purpose. If we see or see logs of players performing such poor tactics we will deal with the group involved as we see fit. Actively 'camping' or 'spawn killing' repetitively is not good for the atmosphere of the game and can discourage people from playing/PvP, thus driving down the playerbase. It is also not encouraged to sit on players corpses to prevent them from retrieving the corpses. There should be no hurry to recover corpses currently though as equipment does not drop to corpses at the moment.

To clarify: Sitting in a rentable room does not mean you should be safe - in a raidable area then you can expect to inn-sit and be killed a couple of times, but what we will object to is people killing repeatedly when spawning.
